Weekly Goals

Last week did not go so well on accomplishing goals.  I have to admit that I have been reading Money Saving Mom’s current series called 21 Days to a More Disciplined Life, but obviously not every single thing I have read has actually stayed with me.  In her 5th post, she mentioned to plan ahead for obstacles to staying disciplined, and obviously I didn’t do that.  I knew that I would be sleeping in a little and that my family would be in for a couple of days.  But I did not plan ahead for these things.  However, this won’t stop me from trying again this week.

My goals last week:

Sprirtual

1. Spend time with God first thing every morning.  (Did not do well on this at all this last week.)

2. Do next chapter in the Faith Workbook.   (Actually did this, and really enjoyed this workbook.)

Marriage

3. Write my husband a note expressing my love and tuck it into his lunchbox to find on his break. (This did not happen as I had not figured into the equation how hard it would be to get a chance to pack his lunch.)

Writing

4.  Write 500 more words for novel.  (This did not happen, but on a happy note, my essay for the teaching program is now done.)

Cleaning

5.  Changed sheets on bed.

6.  Fold clean laundry.

7.  Sort through 1 tote in basement.  (Actually got through 2 totes.)

Personal

8. Take a bubble bath.  (Didn’t happen, but I did get all my Christmas decorations put out.)

Knitting

8.  Finish fingerless gloves.  (I’m marking this off, because I have very little left to finish them.)

And this week’s goals:

Sprirtual

1. Spend time with God first thing every morning.

Marriage

2.  For something a bit more feasible, I think it’s time for another stay in date night.

Writing

3.  Write 500 more words for novel.

Cleaning

4. Clean bathroom sink & mirror.

5. Dust

Personal

6. Take a relaxing bath.

Knitting

7.  Work on David’s sweater.

I also plan to focus on keeping track of our spending for the next 21 days, and writing down all of our purchases.  I’ll let you know how that goes.

Weekly Goals

So I first read about weekly goals over at Money Saving Mom, and thought I’d give it a try.  After all, I need all the help I can get.  So far, I’m seeing an improvement in what I am getting accomplished.  First of all was the great feeling of actually accomplishing something.  And I did get several things marked off my list.  I also like that this list is flexible.  I have seven days to get it done in and can space things out and around the busy lives we lead.

I have also found out the importance of starting small.  I only try to put one goal per category right now.  Then, as it builds into a habit, I can add more.  Also, I realize it’s not 10 goals exactly, but let’s just say that a goal is to eventually get to having 10 goals a week.  So let’s get started . . .

My goals last week:

Sprirtual

1. Spend time with God first thing every morning.  (OK, so I did pretty good on this last week.  I missed out on Thursday morning because I was running late and overslept, but otherwise it’s definitely helping me. )

2. Do next chapter in the Faith Workbook.   (Totally did not get to last week, so I’m moving it to this week’s sheet.)

Marriage

3. Plan a stay-in date night.  (This was awesome as we got a Netflix DVD in and curled up on the couch.)

Writing

4.  Write 500 more words for novel.  (Thanks to Chic-Fil-A for free wi-fi.)

Cleaning

5. Vacuum stairs and basement and sweep upstairs.  (So I got most of this done.  Just didn’t get our bedroom swept.)

Personal

6. Put out candles in the window for Christmas.  (This did not get done as I have to clear a path to the Christmas decorations first.)

Knitting

7.  Work 1 hr on David’s sweater.
8.  Finish fingerless gloves.
