So I decided to include quick homemade gift ideas on this Fun Friday. It’s officially 1 week until Christmas shopping should be done. I am personally low on cash and so most of my family will be receiving either homemade chocolate fudge or toffee for Christmas. But here are some other great ideas if you want something homemade, and quick, to fill their stockings this year.
Candy Cane Bath Salts
Over at The Peaceful Mom, she shares a recipe for homemade bath salts. To me, anything that is a spa item is awesome. Why? How many women would take more time for themselves and relax in the tub if they had a reason to. So go on and encourage the women in your life to slow down and relax.
I am doing this one this year. Nothing says love like a homemade treat. Be sure to only put a few treats in each gift though. You also don’t want to be blamed for a few extra pounds on the recipient’s waistline a month from now. The Thrifty Mom gives her recipe for these quick and easy turtle treats.
Tomorrow I plan to post a short tutorial for a quick flannel scarf, with a twist.
I bet you’ve noticed by now that I have not listed anything involving yarn. There’s a reason for that. I have had the personal tragic experience of investing time and money into something knitted. Nothing complex, maybe a scarf or something simple. You give it to the person with the deep understanding of how amazing and awesome it is, because it represents a bit of your life. And they smile, say thank you, and you never see it again. Ever. So trust me, for once it’s best to back away from the yarn. Save it all for yourself. At least you know you’ll appreciate it.
