I sit here at my desk at work, wasting time on Ravelry and knitting blogs, looking up how to create and chart cables and lace, drifting into my own little world. And I’m supposed to be working. I was looking forward to this week at work as I thought it should be smooth sailing but I have such trouble actually doing stuff. I accomplished some yesterday, and of course small breaks can encourage harder and better work overall. But my small breaks are actually big and there is no work overall. Not really. Some days I love the office life, my little cubie, organizing my desk and work, seeing all the red tape paper accomplish its purpose. And other days I wonder why I’m doing this. Does it have a point? And all the trees I’m killing. I appreciate all that I’m learning here as I will most definitely use it later on as my own boss that has to keep track of every little thing and have great office-y skillz, but then these moments of doubt and dread make me wonder if I can keep it up. Can I stick through it when I don’t want to, or when my mind is on flights of fancy and my willpower wants to go along for the ride. I guess this is a confession. I am gifted. I am imaginative, creative, a dreamer. I am like Joseph – whose more practical, down-to-earth brothers decided to ship off to slavery out of hatred. And I love being this way (being a dreamer, not being in slavery). But I can’t stand fences, or boundaries for long. In time management or workload. My boredom just comes from my wanting to move on to something else and being restrained with what is before me now. I want to design at this very moment, and yet I need to go copy, stamp, interoffice mail. Register, and update. And yet, as I type, I think this kind of therapy has helped me. What a weekend . . . 01.28.2008
I’m almost glad to be back at work! So I went to Ice Castles. Sad to say, it was kinda a bummer. No one really spoke to us for the first 2 hours. We ended up leaving early and going to my mom’s on up the road. Ate dinner with them for my mom’s and grandpa’s birthday. That all came on the end of a very tiring week, so I ended up going to bed at probably 7:30 last night. The first hour and half on the couch and the rest in the bed. I’m feeling emotionally recharged now. And I get most nights this week to catch up on cleaning and straightening.
On a knitting note, the Marsupial Reworked is halfway done. I’m enjoying the speed at which it is going since it is going to be felted. Big needles = speeeeed! (That last word said in a high pitched squirrel kind of voice) Got another scarf done for the craft show and I need to design a sweet looking cable pattern for some of the felted bags I’m going to be doing. Got some nice felting wool last Friday for these bags, very excited about felting!
Otherwise, things are good. I will be going house hunting this Sunday with Austin. I hope to take some pictures. Maybe hold a contest. If you pick the correct house we end up buying, I’ll send you yarn, or something like that. I’m not starting it yet but keeping it in mind. I am hoping by the end of February to have a working shop up for you to buy knit goodies. Please let me know of any interest in that! Thanks!!!
Craft Show Update . . . and so Much More! 01.25.2008
So 3 scarves are finished for the craft show. I wanted 4 done by yesterday but couldn’t squeeze it in. My hands aren’t cramping either so that must mean I didn’t injure myself in the process. I’m supposed to try to get some bags done this week but I also have Ice Castles this Saturday and need to do a couple of little things with my garb. Hopefully I’ll enter in some of my spinning for their novice competition. But otherwise things seem to be progressing. It is unbearably cold here. Any my workplace has consigned all space heaters to the Outer Darkness, so I sit here typing fast to keep my fingers warm, with 2 pairs of socks on, a blanket and fuzzy house shoes. And I am so sleepy, I am about to fall over.

OK, so I am gearing up for the craft show. 1 and 1/2 scarves done. In some ways this is going great, but I’m realizing that I may want to sell a few things extra to help make money for the craft show needs. I can’t decide if this is good or not. In some ways I’m scared if I start selling stuff now, I won’t have enough for the craft show. But I’m also not sure I will always be able to afford to buy stuff, yarn, things for the craft show to get it done. AHHH! So this is my current dilemma, the actual doing is going reasonably well, considering my inability to finish projects.
My Fetching is almost done! And I want to learn the Magic Loop to try and make the second pair for my friend. Any ideas on this?

This is my sari bag, crescent shaped, and I have run out of yarn. So its hibernating.
And the Airy Wrap Sweater from Fitted Knits. Just started it to enjoy the mohair but will work on it in a little bit.

I know its been a while, but I get sad to post something without any pictures. 
On a happy note, I will be wearing my cotehardie to the event at the end of this month, as long as I get the fur back on the hem. I just need to make a nice chemise to wear underneath. I have 4 scarves to make next week if I survive the weekend. The reason for a question of my survival has to do with the fact that my worship team is switching practices, AGAIN, so we have practice tonight . . . and worship on Sunday . . . and practice on Monday . . . and possibly worship on Wednesday. Next weekend is a Soulgen concert. It will be a blast, but also very tiring. I’m one of the thrashing encouragers, so it can also make me sore to go to these events. And of course, a week later is Ice Castles, an SCA event sure to be fun because I’m guaranteed to have several hours of spinning funness and getting to know those in my new barony. But it will still be hectic, and the anticipation of that has left me feeling very groggy and slow today. Even with the coffee.
The only joy is not having much to do at work today. Yay!!
Some thoughts . . . 01.7.2008
First, during the snow last week (our first real one), the thought went through my head of how glad I am to live in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This is because I pay them twice a month from my gross pay to do things, like keep the roads clear of snow and fill potholes, and finish construction projects in a timely manner. This same kind of expected work for payment does not exist on the Tennessee side of line, because they do not get paid.
Second, I have determined that there must be crack in the water supply here. Some one must be dumping crack into South Holston. The reason being the crazy drivers and people. They act like they are on crack. I also stated to Austin on Friday after witnessing some of this crack-like craziness that this is the reason we have a water filter. To filter out the crack. If you live in my area, I recommend getting a water filter, or you will succumb!
On a knitting note, my first cowl is almost done, a heavier lace cowl in Microspun. I will post a picture when its done. The lighter weight Dragon Skin cowl will have to wait until the right size needles are bought. I desperately need to finish mine and my coworkers Fetching soon so I can start on my Craft Show items. They really need to get done ASAP!
